Happy New Year to all from the team at Llyn Y Gors. The fishing has been consistent considering the recent bitter cold weather. Anglers considering the match and pleasure lakes are best to take a mixture of bait, match anglers tend to use maggot and corn. Pleasure lake anglers continue to catch on 10 mm boilies although maggot is a good bait for some quality silver action.
Mark Drennan was a very happy man after a 48 hour session in appalling wet weather. Mark fished "The Backs" swim on Richworth K-G-1 boilies landing a total of four fish including a new personal best carp, a very nice 14 lb ghostie. Well done Mark. Nick Slater also caught four fish during a night session on the Old Lake. Nick fished Mainline Pro-Activ Pineapple boilies tempting two mirrors and two commons, the biggest of the session scaled 12 lb 5 oz. Local angler Lee Thomas fished his first day session of the new year and decided on targeting the pike. Lee netted a 5 lb jack during the day and reported a lost bigger fish.
George and Linda Greenwood fished "Roger's swim on the Old Lake also after some predator action. Both anglers managed six fish between them the biggest a 12 lb 12 oz beauty caught on a Dynamite Baits Smelt dead bait. George is pictured above with the catch.
Peter Wormald fancied his chances on Thompson's Pool and managed a stunning winter specimen. Pete caught the very distinct 19 lb 2 oz fully scaled mirror on Nutrabaits Trigga from "The Well" swim. Pete McMahon fished next door on the "Aquarium" where he caught the biggest fish of the session, a 21 lb 3 oz mirror this time on Richworth Hawaiian Pineapple.
